90, 60, and 30 days ago: A [not so] short poem on how I found the one

Walked up to me in black boots and long braids
Can I have your signature here? —  she said
Not as an autograph but for a petition she added
Her smile. How could I deny myself seeing it again?

Almost like clockwork, I wanted to impress her
Got my colleagues to help her increasing list
But wait, this was not going to last as planned
Yet I loved to help this little lady from the other side of town.

Imagine my surprise when she reached out me days after
Now that I think of it, she found me and not I her
We quickly became friends with crossing paths not far
Perhaps too easy to find the one I was looking for.

[skips uncensored verses]

90 days ago I laid my eyes on this beautiful creature
60 days ago I gave in to the attraction that existed between us
30 days ago I made a move. I’m going all in — I said.
Thankful for the day I met you in black boots and long braids.

[MUSIC] A quantum of solace with #ThePrayer by @EsePeters

Ese The Prayer

May all of your days be as bright as the sun
And all of your fears all fade with the dawn
And when the storms come, they will come like a flood
But not for long, no, not for long

May all of our children reach out to the wind
Find the magic, like kings and queens
And when the sky falls, it will fall like a war
But not for long, no, not for long

And we will sing, sing for our mothers
Sing songs of hope and love
We will sing for our brothers
Sing like tomorrow’s gone, in
Faith like a river
Hope like a fire
And love like a storm
Love like a storm
Love like a storm

The lyrics video was even more consoling:

Ed Sheeran’s ‘Give Me Love’ Video Is Complete

I was psyched to hear that Ed Sheeran’s video was out, especially since I had been (still am) playing it in loops for days turning into weeks. I found out I was about 3o million views late, but I quickly forget about that after I hit the play button on the YouTube video.

Not only was I impressed about the narrative, I appreciated the fact that all types of love – straight, gay, 1-on-1, 2-on-1, and whatever labels are out there was portrayed in the 4:26 video.

That’s what I meant when I wrote – Ed Sheeran’s ‘Give Me Love’ Video is Complete.

Enjoy the video below and share what you think.

Let The Light In, Leave The Dark Out

LaraAkande

Just stumbled upon this photograph and it gave me this meaning:

“In any relationship, someone tries to bring things to light and wants openness, while the other would rather stay in the dark, just to stay away from any form of vulnerability that external factors may bring. In any ways, a good measure of both is needed to have a functioning relationship – be open to each other but don’t give a sh*t about what others think or say.”

In other words, shine the light on yourselves and keep others in the dark.

Cheers,
Nubi
